A Pennsylvania gun rights group is pressing state Attorney General Michelle Henry to enforce the state’s laws preventing local jurisdictions from outpacing the state’s gun control laws.
Pennsylvania Gun Rights, the state affiliate of the National Association for Gun Rights, is specifically calling on Henry to enforce Pennsylvania’s preemption of firearm law after the City Council of Reading passed an ordinance banning the production of privately made firearms using methods such as 3D printing and unfinished parts kits.
The Reading City Council, on Aug. 26, voted to modify the city code to prohibit such residents from using such methods to assemble their own firearms.
“This action is violative of the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution, Article I, Section 21 of the Pennsylvania Constitution, the State of Pennsylvania’s preemption over firearms, as well as the Supreme Court precedent set by NYSRPA v. Bruen and District of Columbia v. Heller,” Pennsylvania Gun Rights executive director Craig Storrs wrote in an Aug. 27 letter, which his organization published on Sept. 9.
Storrs insisted that Henry is charged with upholding both the U.S. Constitution and the laws of the state.
“As the General Assembly has explicitly forbade municipalities from infringing upon the landscape of firearm regulation, the City of Reading is in violation of the Constitution of Pennsylvania, the Constitution of the United States, and the Pennsylvania Crimes Code,” Storrs continued. “Pennsylvania Gun Rights expects that, irrespective of any differences on the policy debate, this issue is clear-cut and that your office will notify the City of Reading that it is in violation of multiple aspects of law.”
Storrs sent copies of the Aug. 27 letter to Reading City Solicitor Fred Lachat, all members of the Pennsylvania House and Senate, and Democrat Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro.
In a Sept. 9 statement to his own supporters, Storrs questioned whether Henry—a Democrat—would uphold the state laws preserving firearms rights.
“Will Michelle Henry honor her oath?” Storrs wrote. “Or will she continue to ignore law and order to once again appease far-left Democrats in Harrisburg by turning a blind eye to the City of Reading openly disregarding state law?”
FreeBase News reached out to Henry’s office for comment on whether she was considering legal action to block the Reading city ordinance. A spokesperson for the office did not respond to the question directly, instead stating the attorney general generally withholds comment on legal matters until she is ready to publicly announce actions she’s taking.
Lachat’s office did not respond to a FreeBase News request for comment by press time.

Let’s not let the Democrat-Communists forget that it was Communism and its brethren, Fascism, that created “reasonable” and “common sense” gun control laws in their countries, e.g., Red China, Soviet Union/Russia, North Korea, Venezuela, now Brazil, Nazi Germany, Imperial Japan (1931-1945), Afghanistan (Taliban), Communist Eastern Europe (East Germany, Romania, etc.), Communist Vietnam, Cambodia under the Khmer Rouge, etc. Their “reasonable” and “common sense” gun control laws led to immediate and total confiscation of all firearms under penalty of death. Once those countries confiscated all firearms, they proceeded to murder over 250 MILLION of their own innocent citizens, for power, control and political oppression.
